NZ Native Smudge Wand – By Emma Old

Gratitude | Peace | Love | Clearing

Sourced directly from Emma at her farm in Pohokura Taranaki! These bundles host plants from Native Manuka to Rimu and they are grown – picked – wrapped and blessed with the utmost respect and love for mother nature.
“My husband, children and I spend a lot of time in the bush, and sit around the fire at night time. We sit amongst the native bush which includes our beautiful Manuka & Rimu, and the feel and energy they create is like nothing I can really explain. ✨
Incorporating these natives with the sage and the other herbs from my garden, is my way of being able to provide for people that aren’t able to go and get that experience themselves. Bringing this clearing energy into their own home wherever they live.
Uplifting – peace – grounding and mother nature, just all of those beautiful things combined”
Your smudge wand comes adorned with a feather that is collected off the ground of Emma’s farm – some days she cannot walk 2 metres without finding a Kereru feather! The feathers represent freedom | Peace | movement and admiration we have for the beautiful birds who thrive off our native NZ trees.
Why smudge?
Sacred smoke created from burning medicinal or sacred plants is an aspect of many cultures and religions the world over.
Smudging connects people to the Creator and provides communities with a way to gain spiritual protection and blessings, as well as to improve spiritual health. The smoke created by burning sacred herbs is thought to purify the body and soul, and bring clarity to the mind.

How to use? Before burning your wand, some recommend setting intentions if smudging for spiritual, energetic, and negativity clearing purposes. Remove animals or people from the room. It’s also important to leave a window open before, during, and after smudging. This allows smoke to escape.

  1. Light the end of a bundle with a match or lighter. Blow out quickly if it catches on fire.
  2. The tips of the leaves should smolder slowly, releasing thick smoke. Direct this smoke around your body and space with one hand while holding the bundle in the other. Or direct it around a room which you are wanting to clear.
  3. Allow the incense to linger on the areas of your body or surroundings you’d like to focus on. Using a fan or feather can also help direct the smoke, though this is optional.
  4. Allow the ash to collect in a ceramic bowl or shell.

Emma recommends you keep this ash and give it back to the earth in your compost or around your plants – it is full of nutrition for your plants! Its bringing the plant full circle – being respectful for mother nature and making sure we are not leaving a ‘footprint’ just for our pleasure. Showing gratitude for gaia.

“When I am picking, I am always giving my gratitude to mother earth and the plant and the herbs I have got in my garden. Its just a bundle of everything I LOVE” – Emma

If you would like a ‘sage free’ bundle then please request this in the comments and we will do our best to source you one especially.

Note: Every bundle comes with different feathers – with different native plants, they will each be individual and may not look exactly like the ones you see in the photos. Know that the one you need will be what you receive x
